Fasting and Aging
Readers might know that I am interested in behavioral ways we can improve our health and well-being. In recent years I have taken a keen interest in two health practices, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and fasting. We have known for over a century that fasting affects the aging process, and now we might have some clue as to one way it does this.
Fasting may be a "hard reset" for all of our internal clocks (those in individual cells and the brain), according to the article.
I think this is an especially interesting finding considering we are in the Christian season of Lent where people intentionally "go without" an indulgence as a sign of respect or piety to God. If you are over 18, consider trying a 24 hour fast.
